Listen to reminiscences of Felixstowe and get to know this wonderful seaside community...

The Felixstowe Digital Story TrailWe have partnered with Chronicle Digital Storytelling to create a digital story trail that lets people listen to short stories using their smartphone.

Each story is available as a short 2-3 minute video.

Where is the trail?

The trail consists of 10 hidden locations along the seafront from the Seafront Gardens down to Manning's Amusements (a total walking distance of about 2 km). As this is a digital trail there are no markers or signs as your smartphone will guide you.

How does it work?

The trail uses innovative iBeacons to trigger stories so initially the trail is currently only available to iPhone 4s and above (iOS7) users. We hope to expand to other devices shortly. Note that the stories are hosted on-line so your usual data charges will apply.

How do I start?

1. To start enjoying the trail you will need to download the Chronicle Digital Storytelling app from the Apple App Store.

2. Enable your smartphone bluetooth and location services.

Instructions for the App

The app is self-explanatory. To enjoy the trail you will need to select 'Explore' mode. You will be directed from one location
to the next so you will be able to listen to the relevant story for each location. There is also a 'Browse' mode with some
additional stories to view without following the trail.

For people who are unable to enjoy the trail on their smart phone, we have also made the stories available from a multimedia kiosk
in Felixstowe Library on Crescent Road.
