Felixstowe Fairtrade Fortnight 2019

Celebrate Fairtrade in Felixstowe, with a series of events and activities.


The Fortnight (co-ordinated by the Felixstowe Fairtrade Forum) will be launched at St. John's Church on Monday 25 February at 1030. This will include a Coffee Morning with Fairtrade refreshments, including homemade cakes.

Other events:

Monday 25 February (1030): Felixstowe Walkers - Fairtrade Walk

Saturday 2 March (1000-1630): Family Fun Day at Felixstowe Library. Games, activities, a Fairtrade stall, raffle, tombola and refreshments.

Sunday 10 March (1400-1600): enjoy free tea, coffee and homemade cakes served from the Chairman of the Felixstowe Fairtrade Forum's beach chalet on the prom at Bath Tap (below The Bartlet, Undercliff Road East). Donations welcome.

Throughout the Fortnight, there will be displays at Felixstowe Library.

Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. Buying Fairtrade products ensures that they receive a fair price for their goods - and there is also a ‘social premium’ which goes towards providing community facilities, such as clean drinking water. Producers decide on projects democratically. Paying sustainable prices addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which can discriminate against the poorest, weakest producers.
