Beat the January blues with bargains galore in Felixstowe

January 17, 2022

A walk along a sunshine washed Hamilton Road on a crisp January morning can be so uplifting: with the last of the Christmas decorations tucked up for the season, the town starts the year anew lined with sparkling windows revealing goodies to tempt us beyond their frames. Well, if we needed a little rest after the festive furore of Christmas shopping, it seems our wonderful town centre shops have other ideas to get us out with our reusable shopping bags to browse amongst some very tempting offers.

Yes, it’s January sales season and Felixstowe is waving big SALE flags from station to seaside.  We popped into a random selection to see what might be tempting you lot off your sofas and into our town centre for some very special retail therapy.

Abbeygate Lighting

Named after Abbeygate in Bury St Edmunds, their first shop, Abbeygate Lighting’s illuminating presence overlooking The Triangle is always a visual feast. Olive has been trading in Felixstowe since 1980 and the vast range of table lamps, ceiling lamps, unusual modern styles and timeless classics, plus everything you could possibly need to light your home or make a special gift for a wedding or housewarming. They have striking wall art too. Many reductions throughout all the ranges: pop in and see for yourself, it’s an Aladdin’s cave of inspiration dotted with sale bargains.

Clarks

I think many of us are ready to pounce on a particular pair of boots whenever Clarks start their sale. Expert advice from all the staff who can measure your children’s feet or order anything you see online in their sale at the same price. Why bother with home delivery? Try them on in your own high street and enjoy being pampered! Our Felixstowe Clarks is a franchise: Perry and his team are famed for the personal service that you expect from an independent retailer.

Lots of reductions on mens, womens and childrens shoes and boots, many at 60% reduction.

Ruby & Scarlet

Always a window to wonder at, Ruby & Scarlet are offering a huge range of Christmas decorations at half price. From baubles and napkins to cute little animals. To quote proprietor, Donna Johnston, “nothing says Christmas like a sloth on a stick”. We agree: think ahead and save on Christmas 2022.

Livia’s Boutique

Almost at the end of Hamilton Road, Livia’s lively window displays change with the constantly refreshed stock and it is always amazing just how much Nicola fits into her well organised shop. Always a gorgeous selection of clothes and accessories you don’t tend to find anywhere else. Lots of reductions on beautiful blouses, the sort of knitwear you can sink into and still cut a dash and an eclectic array of accessories that would make excellent presents, or just to keep. Order online and collect, or just pop in.

Russell Smith

A central and majestic presence in our town in its current iteration since 1973, David and Tinty Harries have seen fashion retail fads come and go and persist in their success through a marvellous collection of fashions and lingerie topped with second to none customer service. A ‘Destination Shop’ Russell Smiths attracts clients from all over Suffolk for good reason. The sale continues across all ranges including Joules, Seasalt, Cyberjammies and Creme. The window display here is always worth stopping for.

Coes

We all know Coes, but have you popped in to see both floors of reductions on men’s shirts, casual wear, shoes and accessories as well as ladies fashions and accessories? Manager, Richard Ashford explains how the way we all work now has affected buying trends and casuals have fast overtaken the formal wear that Coes is so famous for. Fantastic reductions on Fred Perry, Barbour and Levi, to name a few.

Hughes

Did you know Hughes celebrated its centenary in 2021? Still family run and giving online electrical retailers a run for their money. How? Like all the shops our town boasts, people come back for the customer service, manager, Konor Adams tells us. Hughes are well known for their rental services, but pop in and have a look at some fantastic reductions on TV’s and home electrical.

Suffolk Living

Turn the corner into Orwell Road to find our ‘Felixstowe Village’. This part of town has become a little oasis of charm. Karen Parker Law’s Suffolk Living is impossible to leave without one of her signature white paper shopping bags: gifts, really unusual home accessories that you won’t find anywhere else easily are sourced internationally. Catch her lovely Felixstowe OS map aprons in the sale and 20% off many lines. The giant stag at the entrance? He’s in the sale too. Drop in and see him!
