Former local taxi driver, Andrew Goodchild, has hung up his car keys and is hoping to drive hungry clients off the platform and into his lovely new café in the heart of Great Eastern Square.

Equally handy for the bus stop and passing local shoppers (right next door the Co-op, folks), Andrew saw the opportunity to take over the café when former owner, Jenny decided to retire.

“I’ve always enjoyed cooking at home, so this is a natural choice for me,” Andrew tells us.

With help from Mum, stepdad and brother, Andrew has had the café up and running for two weeks now, but today marked the official opening by our Mayor, Cllr Mark Jepson. There was quite a crowd to see Mark cut the ribbon and say ‘hello’.

Working with Tasha full time, plus a team of part time staff, Andrew will be serving from an extensive menu from 8am to 2.30pm initially, but will expand these hours to cater for demand.

There’s an impressive array of cake choices on display, but it is the breakfast menu that Andrew is justly proud of. We wish you well, Andrew, make mine a Full English!
