Malaysian born Sam and Vincent met in London in 2005 and, after falling in love with ‘the seaside and the people of Felixstowe’ (and who can blame them?) they took over an existing Chinese restaurant at 8 Hamilton Road, at the top of Bent Hill, in 2015.
Eventually changing the name to Sam Moi after Sam, the business owner and chef and his mother, Moi, Sam created an authentic menu that features many Chinese classics including everyone’s favourite crispy duck and sweet and sour dishes, but also some delicious Malaysian treats such as Rendang and Sambal Chili dishes.
Front of house and in charge of charm is Vincent, who is fantastic at recommendations. He really takes care over making sure you have the best dining experience. Try their house ‘eat as much as you like’ buffet, which is cooked to order in a ‘tapas’ style and allows you to try out small dishes.
